Yeahhhh! It’s National Cookie Day! What could be better?
A whole day devoted to those yummy little baked beauties!!
Bake Your All-Time Favorite! What are your favorite cookies to bake? I really love Sugar Cookies. I love the batter (I know I shouldn’t eat the batter, but I always do) and the finished product.
Here is my latest favorite Sugar Cookie! Its called Chewy Sugar Cookies by Becky from Becky Has Been Blogging. Love them! I love rolling the cookies in the palm of my hand and watching as the cookies become perfect circles as they bake. When I bake them, I skip the step of rolling them in sugar. Click below for Becky’s delicious recipe: http://www.beckyhasbeenblogging.com/2015/02/23/chewy-sugar-cookies/
For use with cookie cutters, I love Bereavement Cookies by Cupcake Project: http://www.cupcakeproject.com/2011/10/bereavement-cookies-sad-name-for-best.html.
I also love the recipes from LilaLoa: http://www.lilaloa.com/
Mix It Up! Recently I made Old-Fashioned Soft Pumpkin Cookies using the following recipe:https://www.verybestbaking.com/recipes/32364/old-fashioned-soft-pumpkin-cookies/. But, I changed it a bit! I used butternut squash instead of pumpkin and I add a pinch of cloves to the butternut squash puree. If I were to rename these cookies based on my changes, I’d call them “Butternut Squash Spice Cookies”. Recently, I made a Pumpkin Pie from a recipe by Melissa Clark of the NYTimes and she said that cloves enhance the other spices. I agree.
Try Something New! I’m not a big chocolate fan (Don’t get me wrong, I eat my share of chocolate), it’s just not my absolute favorite. But I really want to try Sea Salt Double Chocolate Cookies by Honey and Birch– check it out: http://www.honeyandbirch.com/sea-salt-double-chocolate-cookies-fbcookieswap/
Share Your Goodies! Make a plate and present your goodies to a friend! Here are some little gift cards I made for you! You can print, punch a hole and tie to your plate of cookies with a string!
